Dylan Reid wins NECBL pitcher of the week
By Graham Goodman
Dylan Reid (Brown) has won NECBL pitcher of the week after his opening day dominance for the Valley Blue Sox over the Newport Gulls. Reid went six innings, allowing no hits, striking out five and only walking one.
Reid said postgame he was on a pitch limit of 75 and an inning limit of five, but was efficient enough to go six innings on only 71 pitches.
“The environment was good [being] under the lights for the first time in a while,” Reid said postgame. “I’m excited to see what’s to come.”
His no-hit bid was carried into the eighth inning, but was broken up before the Blue Sox could record an out. It was Reid’s first start after wrapping up a year at Brown University where he recorded a 3.77 ERA in 59.2 innings pitched.
Reid’s start has been the most outstanding amongst Valley starters this season. However, the bullpen has dominated to begin the 2026 season. In 15 innings of work, the Blue Sox’ relief arms have only allowed two earned runs and seven hits.
